The Five Remembrances: Befriending Impermanence
with Noell Clark & Matthew Hahn
The Buddha taught that there are five themes worth reflecting upon each day, five reminders that bring home the preciousness of human life and inspire us to live with greater meaning and intention: aging, illness, death, loss, and karma. Known as the Five Remembrances, these teachings can shape how we meet all of our experience—from the painful to the joyful, the routine to the rare. In this daylong workshop, we will explore impermanence and its capacity to transform how we inhabit the present moment and the choices we make within it.
Join us for a day of seated and walking meditation, group discussion, reflection, and community building.

Matthew Hahn has been practicing the Dharma since 2005. He is a graduate of the Insight Meditation Center's Dharma leader training, co-founder of the Recovery Dharma program, member of Spirit Rock's CDL7 program, and facilitating teacher at Barre Center for Buddhist Studies' online immersive programs. Matthew currently teaches at San Jose Insight Meditation.
Noell Clark is a yoga teacher, certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and lay-ordained Buddhist minister with nearly two decades of experience in trauma-informed teaching. Specializing in body-based healing, she integrates yoga, Buddhist Dharma, and Somatic Experiencing to support a wide range of students, from professional athletes to incarcerated individuals.
